GPT Engineer

GPT Engineer is a CLI tool that generates and iteratively refines complete codebases from natural language prompts. Features an interactive clarification Q&A process before code generation, vision model support for working from diagrams and wireframes, a benchmarking system, and a modular workflow architecture. Supports Python 3.10-3.12 and works with OpenAI and Anthropic models. The precursor to Lovable.dev, it was one of the first AI tools to generate full project scaffolds from descriptions.
